Unless you are very lucky and have a brand new RV with a shiny new fridge, the chances are that the fridge you have is not the prettiest piece in your RV kitchen. A new fridge for an RV is not cheap though, and you would expect to pay four digit prices for a proper one. So if upgrading is not an option, what to do with the one you already have?
Here are 6 different ideas on how to update your RV refrigerator and some of them are also easily removable, if you are worried about your RV’s resale value or in case you change your mind.

1 – Disguise it by painting it the same color as the kitchen cabinets

If you want a sleek look for the whole kitchen, consider painting the fridge the same color as your kitchen cabinets. If your fridge has a wood paneling, you can paint it the same way you would your cabinets, but even a fridge with a plastic cover can be painted – a good priming is the key.
1 – Unplug your fridge from the power source.
2 – Clean the exterior with warm, soapy water and let air dry.
3 – Sand the front with a medium grit sandpaper and then wipe it with a damp cloth.
4 – Cover everything you don’t want to be painted with a painter’s tape or remove them.
5 – Prime it with a primer meant for plastics or buy two-in-one paint and primer. Apply 1 to 2 coats with a foam roller, letting it dry minimum 4 hours between the coats. Alternatively you can use a spray paint, just prime it with an oil based primer first.
Or, you could go the absolutely opposite way, and paint it with a lovely color really popping out like Trina from @rvfixerupper did.
Here she has painted the fridge with the same white as the cabinets.
2 – Highlight it with a removable wallpaper

What you can’t hide, highlight it! There is a great variety of removable wallpapers for sale if you don’t want a permanent solution.

1 Flowers // 2 Wood // 3 Dark flowers // 4 Blue tiles // 5 Green leaves // 6 Blue forest // 7 Hexagon // 8 Tropical

3 – Make it useful by making it a memo board

There are a few ways of doing this. You can paint with a chalkboard paint or use a removable chalkboard contact paper. If you are not a chalkboard kinda gal, there are other options too – how about a white board contact paper or pink chalkboard paint?

1 Chalk paint (you’ll find these in multiple colors) // 2 Black chalkboard contact paper // 3 Erasable liquid chalk markers // 4 White board contact paper
4 – Make it shiny by using metallic contact paper

If you are after more modern design, how about using metallic contact paper to make your fridge look like it’s made of stainless steel?

1 Stainless Steel // 2 Gold // 3 Tin paper // 4 Rose Gold
5 – Use washi tape or decals

You’ll find a ton of fridge decals for sale on Amazon etc, but how about making your own with washi tape?

1 Cat // 2 Flowers // 3 Butterflies // 4 Washi tape
6 – Make it retro

This is what I’ve done with mine, and I absolutely love the result. In this sample the black parts have been painted with a silver spray paint, and the front panel with warm white paint. (Mint, dusty pink and light blue would also look pretty fantastic.) To get that oh, so vintage look, an extra handle has been attached and some silver letters added to mimic an old-fashioned refrigerator brand.

1 Mint spray paint // 2 Silver spray paint // 3 Pull handle // 4 Silver letters
Here you can see my version. I left out the handle for practical reasons, as the fridge is right by the entrance! If you are interested in reading more, click here.

I’d love to know how you have updated yours, please let me know in the comments! 🙂
